Student assessments show dip in math, reading scores

While many educators and experts predicted a “COVID slide” similar to the “summer slide” learning loss for students, initial assessment scores show a steeper drop than expected, some educators say. NWEA’s MAP Growth assessments show that in the spring, reading scores had dipped between 3 and 6 percentile points lower than fall assessments, and math scores were between 8 and 12 percentile points lower.
