Educators share downsides of “toxic positivity”

Some teachers are reporting negative effects of so-called “toxic positivity” — or “forced cheerfulness” — that they experience in schools. Selena Carrion, a high-school English teacher in the Bronx, N.Y., says toxic positivity is a “mask to avoid talking about those heavy-hitting issues that might make people feel uncomfortable.”
