Colo. elementary students experience literacy lag

Educators at Remington Elementary School in Colorado Springs, Colo., have noticed first-grade students are struggling with skills typically mastered in kindergarten, such as letter names and sounds, due to disrupted learning last year. Some students at the school will be offered after-school tutoring to address the literacy learning gap, using federal dollars allocated for low-income students.
