CDC researcher: Effect of COVID-19 on children a “crisis”

About 140,000 children have lost parents or primary caregivers between March 2020 to June 2021 because of the coronavirus or pandemic-related causes, according to a study released Thursday in the journal Pediatrics. Susan Hillis, a CDC researcher and lead author of the study, calls this a “crisis,” saying “for every four COVID deaths, one child is left behind.”
